The Gate: Wide & Narrow

Jesus taught His disciples both then and now a lot of things. He taught them so much that everything He taught them if they could some how have been all written down there would not be enough of the earth to contain all of the books written about the works of Jesus. Everything written in the Bible comes from eyewitnesses; whether from the parting of seas and fiery serpents to walking on water and hanging from a cross. Nothing that the Lord has done then or now has ever been done in secret or out of the eyesight of two or more eyewitnesses who can testify that what they have seen are true.

One of the things that Jesus taught His disciples both then and now that He is the way, the truth, and the life. He also taught that He is the narrow gate that leads to everlasting salvation and the reason so few find it isn’t that they don’t know the way, they just don’t believe in the one doing the leading. The path that leads to the narrow gate is filled with truth, light, and repentance. It is the truth that makes you free and the light that shines in darkness, and coming to Jesus to repent of your sins brings forth forgiveness that leads to everlasting peace in the presence of the Creator.

Now Jesus warned His disciples both then and now not to choose to go down the path that leads to the wide gate. The reason the people chose the wide gate then as they do now has to do with the fact that the path that leads to the wide gate is considered as having a good time being filled with self love, lies, ungratefulness towards others, lovers of money and status, power hungry and title seekers, thoughtless, unforgiving and treacherous always scheming to destroy others. Persuading the unrepentant to chose the darkness over the light which will lead to everlasting torture and regret in the lake of fire in the presence of the devil and all of his fallen angels for all eternity.

Has the words of Jesus persuaded you to follow Him down the path that leads to the narrow gate; or has the lifestyle and privileges of this world persuaded you to stay on the path that leads to the wide gate? On which side of the path are you walking currently? Right now is a great time to make sure that you are on the path that leads to the narrow gate.
